The influx of American investors is growing in Italy. A group of investors led by the Boston Celtics co-owner reached an agreement to buy a 55% stake in the company that owns the majority stake in Atalanta.
According to the management of the Bergamo-based club, the Percassi family will retain 45% of the shares of La Dea, the holding company that owns about 86% of Atalanta. The rest will now belong to the new investors.
In fact, according to an announcement issued by "Bergamaski", it is stated that Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio S.p.A. announces the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Perkassi family and a group of investors led by Stephen Palioucas, co-owner of the Boston Celtics, and co-chair of Bain Capital, one of the world's leading investment funds.
The agreement provides for the entry of new investors with a total of 55% in the share capital of La Dea Srl ("La Dea"). The Perkasi family will maintain its 45% share. La Dea is the subsidiary of the Percassie family, which owns approximately 86% of Atalanta.
The Percassi family will remain the main sole shareholder and governance will be the expression of an equal partnership: Antonio and Luca Percassi will continue to hold the position of president and CEO of Atalanta, respectively, while Stephen Paliuca will be appointed co-president of the association.
The group of young investors includes leading professionals with deep experience in the football and sports industry in general. And for this reason, the cooperation aims to strengthen the club and the team, with the aim of further improving the sporting and financial results - in addition to the remarkable - that have been achieved so far.
