Portuguese striker
Rafael Leao has finally agreed to
sign a new contract with AC Milan after months of negotiations, despite pressure from
Chelsea and continuing to push for him. But the Milan team is not thinking of letting him go and has even offered him a two-year extension to his contract, which expires in the
summer of 2024.
The relevant reports state that the London team is intensifying its interest in Leao and is ready to offer the sum of 130 million euros (!) in the summer to include him in its team. Also, Leao requests an increase in his salary from 1.5 million to 7.5 million euros, which of course was accepted by the Milan administration.
The "rossoneri" leak that in the next few days there will be a final agreement and in fact a new appointment has been made with his agent next week and it is estimated that the agreement will be signed for Leao's stay in Milan for the next few years.
It should be noted that in order to agree with him, the outgoing Italian champion agreed to pay the fine imposed on him for his departure from Sporting Lisbon in 2018.
The Portuguese club was awarded compensation of 16.5 million euros, which with interest and surcharges now reaches 20 million euros. Thus, Leao will not have to gradually repay this particular debt, but Milan will take it over.
The 23-year-old left-footed ace is considered the new big star of the "Rossoneri" and this year he has scored 11 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions.
