Yannis Dontas, former Panathinaikos

Sadness for Panathinaikos and Greek football. Yannis Dontas, who served the clover from 1982 to 1986, passed away at the age of just 65.

Yiannis Dontas was born in 1958 in Athens and first played professional football for Apollon Athens. Then in the summer of 1982 he was acquired by Panathinaikos. He competed for 4 years at Panathinaikos playing in various positions from right back, left, stopper, midfielder wherever the team needed him.

During this time with Panathinaikos, he won two doubles and recorded 44 appearances and two goals in the league, while he also played in six games of European competitions. Among them is that of 1985, where the greens reached the semi-finals of the Champions Cup, when they were eliminated by Liverpool one step before the final. He finished his career at Diagoras Rhodes.

Zakynthos was lucky in the 1989-90 season to admire him as a football player while he was also a coach together with Nikos Papalamprou who has also passed away. Together they replaced the late Stelios Skevofylakas on the bench. Played 5 times in national team of Greece..

He was an excellent child who had only friends everywhere….

Arsenal failed to maintain the euphoric atmosphere that existed after the imposing 3-0 win over Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. Their tank was almost... empty, stuck at 1-1 against Brentford, and now Mikel Arteta's team seems to be raising the white flag in the championship battle!. Now Arsenal is turning its attention exclusively to the Champions League, where after the 3-0 win, it seems to have a big lead to qualify for the semi-finals of the top club competition in Europe, if not the world.
