Saudi Arabia, after carefully studying its every move, decided not to put forward a candidacy to claim the final phase of the 2030 world cup, where for a while Greece and Egypt were with it. Its football federation, studying its actions very carefully, decided that it is not the right time and will not proceed with an official claim.
Perhaps the strong candidacy of the Iberians, i.e. Spain, Portugal and Morocco, played its part and in fact the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud reportedly contacted officials in Greece and Egypt and informed them that they will not present a candidacy for the 2030 World Cup.
The reason he made this decision has to do with the excellent work that the Spaniards have presented. Somehow the candidacy consisting of Spain, Portugal and Morocco is the undisputed favorite to take over the event. So now the triple joint candidacy of Spain, Portugal and Morocco is getting even stronger.
The other nomination is that of the federations of South America and concerns the cooperation of Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay. Here we must point out that then 100 years will have passed since the first World Cup which was held in Uruguay. Finally, let us mention that the decision will be taken in
March 2024 at the annual FIFA General Assembly...
