Maurizio Sarri, an experienced and great coach, stated that "I'm coming back immediately, hopefully before January" in an interview with "Gazzetta dello Sport".
Of course, a little earlier he had received an important offer from Panathinaikos of Greece, but it seems that he was not given what he wanted and his matter did not progress.
But now it seems he may not be waiting until then either, since if AC Milan are beaten in the 'Della Madonnina' derby by last year's champions Inter Milan on Sunday night (22/7), Paulo Fonseca will be a thing of the past. And Sarri is said to be the most likely candidate to replace the Portuguese on the Rossoneri bench.
Sarri coached Juventus in 2019-20, from 2021 to 2024 he was at
Lazio. In fact, on the days of his farewell, he "broke up" with his assistant,
Giovanni Martucciello, who is now coaching Salernitana.
Sarri has already coached Morata, Loftus-Cheek and Abraham. Morata had the worst spell of his career at Chelsea and Sarri recently spoke about it:
"He is strong, one of the centre-forwards that suits my style of play best. During that time at Chelsea he was nervous, he was not happy in London. He had this problem, but none with me. When we saw each other, we talked about this too."
Loftus-Cheek, on the other hand, was one of Sarri's favorite footballers. And the feisty Italian coach one of Loftus-Cheek's favorite coaches. A certain change would be possible at Milan, the system from 4-2-3-1 to 4-3-3, but this is something that changes little.
While Milan await the derby, Maurizio Sarri is thinking and is about to walk through Milanello's door when he sees Paulo Fonseca come out.
