Erling Haaland has signed an incredible
nine-and-a-half-year contract with Manchester City, keeping him at the club until
2034. The extension removes all previous release clauses in the Norwegian star's contract. Haaland's new deal is said to be one of the most lucrative sports contracts of all time.

The Norwegian striker will be 34 when his new contract expires. Haaland's existing deal was due to expire in the summer of 2027. The extension will provide a major boost to Manchester City in the midst of a difficult season for the Premier League champions, who sit four in the table, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool.
Despite Manchester City's struggles (on and off the pitch), towering Norwegian forward Erling Haaland has maintained his stunning goalscoring form, having scored 16 goals in 21 top-flight games this season. Only Liverpool's Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah has scored more (18) in the Premier League this season.
Haaland has scored 112 goals in 127 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022.
According to ‘Capology’, Haaland’s current deal with City means he is the club’s second highest earner
(€444,000 per week) with
Kevin De Bruyne leading the way on a salary of €473,000 per week. And with the Belgian’s current contract expiring in June this year, this could see Haaland overtake him as City’s highest-paid player.
Now with his new contract, Haaland will become the highest-paid footballer in the Premier League, as he will receive the amount of 600,000 euros per week.
Of course, despite the fact that Pep Guardiola's team has been in poor form for much of the season, the Norwegian forward has managed to score 212 goals in 29 matches in all competitions with 17 goals being in the league.
In the meantime, the 24-year-old international forward will undoubtedly seek to become the top scorer of all time in the Premier League.
A position currently held by former Southampton, Blackburn and Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer, who has scored 260 goals in the league. Haaland, who has won the Golden Boot award in the last two seasons, has scored 79 goals in the top flight.
That means he is 180 goals away from overtaking Shearer. Essentially, if Haaland fulfils his full 9.5-year contract, he will need to average 19 goals per season over the next nine and a half seasons. So everything is now... easier for Haaland and City fans...
