At a rapid pace despite the various reactions that exist from Spain and some other European Leagues, everything is moving forward so that in the summer of 2025 the expanded FIFA Club World Cup will be held in the United States.
The teams from 7 increase to 32, so teams from all the Confederations of the world really have the opportunity to claim it.
Recently, Inter Miami, in which the Argentine World Champion of 2022, Lionel Messi excels, secured a place in the new expanded competition.
Inter Miami, which captured its first MLS Supporters' Shield as the club with the most points in the regular season, is the penultimate team added to the competition (June 15 to July 13) to be held in the USA.
"Congratulations on your wonderful success in the Supporters' Shield in 2024. You have shown that in the United States, you are consistently the best club on the field," said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
“Therefore, I am proud to announce that as one of the best clubs in the world, you are worthy participants in the new FIFA Club World Cup 2025 as the host representing the United States,” he added.
The United States would have hosted the event anyway, but instead of FIFA awarding the spot to the winner of the MLS Cup final on December 7, it decided it would be the winner of the Supporters' Shield, the regular season tournament, which will participate.
The Club World Cup group puzzle will conclude with the winner of the Libertadores final on November 30 in Buenos Aires.
