The hero of Liverpool in the FA Cup final is Greek and his name is Kostas Tsimikas from Lefkona of Serres. He lives his dream with the historical trophy in his hands. He totally deserves it ! He could be disappointed and stop trying. At his 20's in 2016 he was informed that he was going loaned to Esbjerg in Denmark. He moved there, he played he struggled and he came back even better.
Then he was informed that he would go as a loan once more, to Netherlands this time. He moved to Willem He played he tried his best, he improved and returned. He returned not only better , not only ready to wear the shirt of Olympiacos in the main team ,but he came back to show that he is a right back in UEFA Champions League level and he achieved it!.
The penalty against Chelsea made his a hero that night. But Tsimikas is not only a one night hero , but is and will continue being a lot more. No one could have imagined what happened which is one of the wildest dreams of the Greek right back. He moved to the field from the subs in the last 10 minutes and the penalty shoutout gave him the opportunity to give his team the trophy and he did so.
With this fantastic win, Tsimikas became the youngest Greek footballer that wins the FA Cup and the second , after Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
The ongoing stopper of Olympiacos, won it before 2 years in the first of August with Arsenal , against Chelsea with score 2-1! He had played for 5 minutes. Tsimikas has doubled this time of participating in the final and also raised the number of Greeks that has raised this trophy to 2!
2 out of 4, because there are 2 more Greeks that have participated in the FA Final! Nikos Ntampizas in 1997-1999 and Jose Holebas with the shirt of Watford!
The first one had played for Newcastle against the Arsenal and the Manchester United both in the main team but in both matches the result was the same. Although he played well, he lost 2-0 from these years champions.
As for Jose Holebas, he played against Manchester City with the "hornets", losing with score 6-0 which is fully representative of what had been happening 3 years ago with city conquering every title.
As a result, Greece has 50% success in the players that represents it in the FA cup finals! Kostas Tsimikas succeeded it and 2 days after his birthday , he won his second trophy with Liverpool!
