A delegation from FIFA and the participating clubs in the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2024 concluded a successful week-long visit to Qatar to assess the readiness of the 974 and Lusail Stadiums, the training grounds and accommodation, as the tournament approaches, which will be held from 11 to 18 December.
Commenting on Qatar’s readiness to host the prestigious tournament, Roberto Grassi, FIFA’s Head of Youth Competitions, stressed that Qatar has world-class sporting facilities and extensive experience not only in organising and hosting football tournaments but also in many other sports.
He said: “Qatar has built high capabilities and rich experience in organising major sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which has achieved remarkable success on all levels. There is no doubt that the lasting legacy of the global tournament is still before us and we see it in the modern stadiums built according to the highest international standards and specifications.”
The 44,000-capacity Stadium 974 is set to host two matches in the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2024, before the final match, which will witness a decisive match for the title at the iconic Lusail Stadium, coinciding with the celebration of the second anniversary of hosting the historic final of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Engineer Jassim Al Obaidly, Stadium 974 Director, Local Organising Committee for the tournament, said: “Stadium 974 was designed to the highest international standards that comply with the specifications of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), similar to all World Cup stadiums that hosted the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The unique design of the stadium embodies the ambitious, innovative vision of the State of Qatar, which we see in all facilities and facilities across the country.”
He added: “Stadium 974 will provide fans with an exceptional experience during the upcoming tournament, with its unique design inspired by the ancient maritime heritage of the city of Doha, and its strategic location, as it is the first stadium that visitors see when they come to the city Doha.
The final match will be held at the 89,000-capacity Lusail World Cup Stadium, which is famous among football fans around the world after hosting the best final ever in the history of the global tournament.
For his part, Engineer
Ali Al Dosari, Director of Lusail Stadium at the Local Organizing Committee for the tournament, said that Lusail Stadium is a prestigious sports edifice and holds a special place among fans in Qatar, the region and around the world, and will remain present in the history of World Cup tournaments.
