From unbeaten City's exploits in Italy's first time, the end of ...Croatia's streak and Manchester City, and from Simone Inzaghi to Edin Dzeko, Kevin de Bruyne, Rodri and Erling Haaland, these are the data obtained from the final of the City according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) which is represented in Greece by Manos Staramopoulos, editor-in-chief of Discoveryfootball.com.
* Manchester City are the 2nd English team to win the treble (Champions League, league, cup), after Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United in the 1998-99 season.
* Manchester is only the 2nd city with 2 different Champions League winners. The first was Milan (Milan, Inter).
* Manchester City became the 10th team to win the Champions League without defeat.
Previously this success had been achieved by Milan, Ajax, Liverpool, Manchester United twice and Bayern, Barcelona, Inter, Marseille, Red Star once.
* Manchester City is the 6th English team to win the Champions League, after Manchester United, Liverpool, Nottingham, Aston Villa and Chelsea.
Every other nation has at least twice as many winning teams (Germany, Italy and the Netherlands with 3 each).
* Italy is the first country to lose three European finals in the same season (Roma in the Europa League, Fiorentina in the Conference League, Inter in the Champions League).
* The last Champions League final in which two teams met without previous official games against each other was also held in Istanbul and also with an Italian team against English opponents (2005, Liverpool vs Milan).
* Simone Inzaghi is the 6th different Italian manager to lead a team to a Champions League final, following Carlo Ancelotti, Fabio Capello, Marcello Lippi, Roberto Di Matteo and Massimiliano Allegri.
*Germany is the only other country with so many managers in Champions League finals.
* Edin Dzeko is the 9th away player aged 37+ to start in a Champions League final.
* His predecessors are Alfredo Di Stefano, Ferenc Puskas, Toninho Cerezo, Pietro Vierkowood, Lothar Mateus, Alessandro Costacurta, Paolo Maldini, Ryan Giggs.
* Kevin de Bruyne is the second player to be injured in two Champions League finals (2021 and 2023). The first was Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid, 2016 and 2018).
* Rodri is the third Spanish footballer to score for a non-Spanish team in a Champions League/Cup final, after Xabi Alonso (with Liverpool in 2005) and Alvaro Morata (with Juventus in 2015).
* Erling Haaland is the 6th Norwegian footballer to win the Champions League, after Steinar Pedersen (with Borussia Dortmund in 1997), Henning Berg, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ronnie Johnsen (all with Manchester United in 1999) and John Arne Reese (with Liverpool in 2005).
* Manchester City's win ended...Croatia's Champions League winning streak since 2013 as there are no Croatian players on City's roster. Had Inter won, the streak would have been extended, as midfielder Marcelo Brozovic plays for the Nerazzurri.
During this streak, Mario Mandzukic won the UCL with Bayern in 2013, Luka Modric with Real Madrid in 2014, Ivan Rakitic with Barcelona in 2015, Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic with Real Madrid from in 2016 to 2018, Dejan Lovren with Liverpool, Ivan Perisic with Bayern in 2020, Mateo Kovacic with Chelsea in 2021 and Modric again with Real Madrid in 2022.
At the same time, thanks to Brozovic, the streak of representing Croatian players in the Champions League finals continues. It started in 2012 thanks to Ivica Olic, who was then playing for Bayern.
