FC Barcelona president lawyer Joan Laporta, believes the European Super League could start in 2025, provided the expected court ruling is handed down in favor of the grand scheme.
"In March or April we will have the European Court's decision," Laporta explained in an interview with the Cadena SER radio station.
"If the decision is favorable, I think that the European Super League could start in 2025," said the top administrative leader of the Blaugrana.
The European Court of Justice is going to issue its decision in the next period of time.
UEFA and
FIFA are accused by the complainants of acting abusively by threatening to expel clubs and footballers who wanted to join the ESL scheme. At the same time, the 27 Ministers of Sports of the European Union member countries expressed their support for the
European Confederation.

Meanwhile, the Greek general prosecutor of the European Court of Justice, Athanasios Rantos, has already issued a first favorable opinion for UEFA in mid-December. And of course the attorney general's suggestions are often followed by the judges.
The ESL project, as it is known, started in April 2021, but collapsed in just 48 hours in the face of the fury of many fans. But mainly after the reactions of the EU, UEFA and clubs. But ESL had re-emerged in mid-October when A22, the promoter of the European Super League project, was introduced.
Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus continue to support this competition despite the backlash, while the six major Premier League clubs - Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham - who were among the original 12 clubs, withdrew and pledged to no longer participate in the project. However, none of them has yet signed a contract termination notice...
"The European Super League will be an open competition. I wouldn't have been involved in this project if the competition wasn't open," Laporta clarified, adding that he would like clubs to have the ability to govern themselves, and that UEFA could also have a seat at the table.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who has supported the original ESL plan from the start, said in October 2022 that football was "sick" and a European Super League could revive it.
