Rodri Hernandez is the world's leading midfielder in passes. With 95% correct passes and an index of 192.6, Manchester City's Spanish international midfielder is ahead of Barcelona's Dutch international Frenkie de Jong (93.7%/ 165.3) and Germany's Toni Kroos (94.5%/ 124.5) of Real Madrid.
That's according to the latest report from the
CIES Football Observatory (an international sports research centre, based in Neuchâtel , Switzerland, created in partnership with FIFA), which analyzes passing data to compile a global ranking of the top 100 midfielders in passes in the world, among those who played at least 450' in the domestic league in the current season.
The indicator used takes into account the number of successful passes per match, the percentage of successful passes, the ratio of passes compared to teammates, as well as the average level of matches played.
The top footballers outside of the European big-5 are: Achraf El Madioui (Al Taaun, 6th-94.1%.112.8)), Alvaro Fidalgo (America, 8th-94.2%/106.4) and Yaya Zabrane (Wyatt, 10th-92.5%/96.4).
Two players who have not yet celebrated their 21st birthday are in the top 100: Benfica's Joao Neves (34th-92.5%/77.7) and Real Madrid's Eduardo Caravinga (71st-94%/67.2).
Also two footballers over the age of 40 also appear in the top 100: Fluminense's Felipe Melo (38th-92%/95.6) and Jubilo Iwata's Yasuhito Edo (77th-91.7%/65.9).
