In fact, the management of Barcelona, ​​seeing the great interest shown by top and richest teams in Europe, took care to raise the clause from 400 million euros, which was at 1 billion euros. So Pedri will continue his career with the Barcelona jersey, at least, until June 2026. As the club of Catalonia sees in his face one of the leaders of the team of the future. This season, the young midfielder proved his passion and love for football. 


He closed a season having played in 73 games in 9 different competitions. Most of all (LaLiga, Copa Del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, Champions League, Euro, Olympic Games, World Cup qualifiers, Euro U-21, Nations League), while in a very short time it surpassed the Brazilian Neymar, who has recorded only 70 participations in the French championship since 2017, when he moved to Paris Saint-Germain!


The young midfielder who has been wearing the Barcelona jersey for a year now, making 56 appearances, scoring 4 goals and sharing 6 assists. Recently, Pedri was selected among the 30 finalists of the "Golden Ball", but also among the youngest under 21 who will claim the "Raymond Copa" prize in memory of the first French footballer who won this prestigious prize.


Pedri made his debut for the Spanish men's national team on March 25, against his Greek counterpart, while he also competed in Euro 2020 and the Tokyo Olympics. The former Las Palmas footballer "moved" to the "Camp Nou" in the summer of 2020.


Meanwhile Pedri Gonzalez , Barcelona first team player, and Alexia Putellas , player of the Barcelona women's team, were the stars of the Aldo Rovira award . The award is given to Barca's best player of last season.


The jury was made up of journalists representing a number of media outlets. The verdict was clear in both decisions. It was also the first time in history that the best player of the women's team was awarded.


The 12th edition of Barcelona's Aldo Rovira award honoured Pedri Gonzalez as the Barcelona team's best player of the season and Alexia Putellas as the best player in the women's team. It was the first time that a female footballer was also chosen.


The 18-year-old midfielder beat Lionel Messi and Frenkie de Jong. The Spaniard received eight votes, ahead of five for the Argentinian and one for the Dutchman. The 27-year-old midfielder was almost unanimously voted for, although her team-mate Aitana Bonmati also received a few votes.


Josep Lluis Rovira, a former director of the club, thanked the president, Joan Laporta, for his presence at the event. Now the future is his, as long as he is constantly improving but also has luck in his life…
