Benfica, the most popular team in Portugal, after being able to and kept (at least until now) the Argentine international midfielder, Enzo Fernandez, now moved in a flash and acquired the Norwegian, Andreas Schjelderup, also called "Norwegian Messi".
The 18-year-old right-footed winger belonged to
Nordsjælland and the Lisbon club paid the sum of
10 million euros plus bonuses. Schjelderup, can play as a midfielder or up front and is expected to sign a contract until
2028, with his signing due to be announced by the end of the week.
Schjelderup, who has played with all of Norway's small teams, but sometimes with the men's, has two appearances with the U21. For the 22/23 season that we are going through, the 18-year-old footballer who recently came of age for this reason and was able to get a transfer had 17 appearances and 10 goals.
The 18-year-old ace had been besieged by Liverpool and had pressured him to accept their offer and wear their shirt.
The talented striker, however, has rejected the "Reds" offer and is in Lisbon accompanied by "Eagles" officials to sign his new contract.
Of course, we all know that Norway has nothing to do with countries traditional in football or in the discovery of important talents. In other words, it cannot be compared with Serbia, Croatia or even Denmark. But, it seems that somewhere at the end of the ...tunnel there is light. Brutal centre-forward Erling Haaland is the face that has eclipsed all others. But lately something newer seems to be moving, and it goes by the name of Schjelderup.
Norwegian footballers are divided into leagues that improve and promote footballers like England, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Netherlands and Belgium.
Norway's new talents:
• Andreas Schjelderup 18 years old (winger) Benfica
• Antonio Nousa 17 (winger) Club Brugge
• Christian Thorstvedt 23 (Staff Midfielder) Sassuolo
• Markus Pedersen 22 (right back) Feyenoord
• Hugo Veltesen 22 years (middle) Bodo Glimt
