How luck sometimes brings them. Michel ( José Miguel González Martín del Campo) the third coach of Olympiakos Piraeus this season (Martins, Corberan preceded him) on his ... madness, made the decision to throw into the battle, literally a child, 19-year-old Andreas Ndoj, who was in the second team and plays as a defensive midfielder. But Michel, who obviously saw something in this kid, gave him the opportunity to play in the starting line-up and even as a central defender.
So the Spanish coach of the "Red and Whites" included Andreas Ndoj, in the squad for the important away game against OFI for the Super League, something that many missed. And yet the young Albanian born (2/2/2003) in Greece did very well. Regardless, he scored an own goal and at half-time, wanting to protect him, Michel replaced him.
The Spaniard knew that this kid has the guts that would keep him up and not let him down (as has happened to several young kids). Indeed, this is how Ndoj stood up to the pressure. And Michell not only took him with him to Baku but used him from the start against Qarabag where the youngster did admirably.
In fact, Olympiaκos was one of the few times this year that they did not concede a goal. The same thing happened in Agrinio against Panaitolikos for the championship. And then came the game against Freiburg in Germany, which had a bitter ending for the Piraeus team, but Ntoi's image was sweet and promising again.
Ndoj, is a case of a football player from Olympiakos B', who is an international with the minor National Team of
Albania. But he also has a Greek passport, having been born in Greece. Andreas Rihardos Ndoj, was born on 2/2/2003 and his basic position is six. But he also plays eight.
It is not an easy thing to compete in Olympiakos. Especially in this version of it that still refers to a search process. Professionals with years of experience and many kilometers on their counter have not made it this far. Ntoi's level of preparedness is impressive. Because, among other things, Michel uses him in the role of a central defender and the 19-year-old was not until yesterday: he was a "10" in the summer of 2016 when he was selected by Jason Ilios.
A staff midfielder who gradually started to take steps backwards on the pitch as his Ntoi reached 1.90m. Last year in the Super League 2 championship with Olympiakos B' we saw him mainly as a defensive midfielder. Now he himself knows that the opportunity of his life, that of establishment, brings him to other squares on the playing field.
The tall young footballer, under the guidance of Michel, has found stability in his performance and has already established himself in the position of central defender, while he is expected to be called up to the Greek national team very soon. The 20-year-old stopper has will, without discrimination and ambition.
So now the ball is in his feet…
