The greek defender veteran return at Olympiacos, signed a 3-year contract

From the summer, the name of Kostas Manolas played loudly for Olympiakos. The administration of the Greek champions for its own reasons may not have given, at least superficially, much importance to the issue, but the truth is that there were and in fact constant contacts with the leadership of Napoli.

Then the international central defender himself, had openly expressed his desire to the president of the Partenopei, De Laurentiis that he wants to return to Greece and continue his career at Olympiacos.

But in the summer the transfer did not take place, but the issue still existed. And now on Thursday, December 16, the bomb exploded. The president of Olympiacos, Vangelis Marinakis, officially presented the new transfer acquisition of his team, Kostas Manolas, who signed a 3-year contract.

Kostas Manolas in his more than 7 years of stay in Italy (he went to Roma on 24.8.2014) counted 206 participations, 8 goals with the Roma jersey (from the 2014/15 season to the 2018/19 season) and 75 participations, 4 goals for Napoli, in which he joined on July 27, 2019.

Its value in the football stock market, according to transfermartk, is currently at 15 million euros, when in March it was at 32 million euros. Now Napoli will save the salaries of three months (October, November, December), worth about 1 million euros. As Manolas with the decision to return to Greece, he also put his own ... little stone to make his transfer to Olympiakos a reality.

According to the Italian media, Napoli agreed to his transfer, instead of the amount of 2 + 1 million euros, while acquiring a pole position for Mandy Kamara, who has been on its transfer list for a long time now.

In fact, the agent, Oscar Damiani, explaining the decision of Napoli to transfer a football player that two years ago he had bought with 36 million euros, emphasizes:

"Kostas Manolas was out of the plan, his time in Napoli was over. So he would not give anything to the team coached by Mr. Luciano Spalletti. For president Aurelio De Laurentis it is a positive move for a specific reason: because it will alleviate the level of salaries," unloading "a footballer who, frankly, had already completed his cycle in the team", stressed the former Milan winger and Napoli, which for years now has been practicing as an agent.

Manolas's salary in Napoli exceeded 4 million euros net, costing Napoli a little less than double. The post made by the Greek international central defender on social media, yesterday, immediately after the signing of his contract, gathered many likes from his teammates in Napoli, such as Koulibali, Lozano, Elmas and Lobotka, but also from some of his former teammates in Roma, among them Totti, Dzeko, Emerson Palmieri and  Zaniolo, while Bruno Conti, head of Roma academies, wrote: "A hug Costa", followed by two hearts, one yellow and one red.

The only former teammate to comment was Osimhen, who wrote: "I wish you all the best my friend" adding a red heart. As for Napoli, for his replacement candidates, he is considering Glaison Bremer (Torino), Yerry Mina (Everton) and John Lucumi (KRC Genk).

At the same time, it is said that Napoli is watching another Greek, the 24-year-old central defender, Dimitris Nikolaou, who is playing in Spezia with a very good presence…
