There will be no more Ciro Immobile with the 'Azzurra'. Or that, at least, that's the striker's idea. After the last disappointment with the elimination for Qatar and the criticism received, the Lazio striker has decided not to play for the national team anymore. This is reported by La Repubblica.
His last match could be the one in June against Argentina: the 'Finalissima' at Wembley, before 90,000 spectators. It is expected to be the last of Chiellini or Insigne, for example, although these have not yet been pronounced. Roberto Mancini, on the other hand, has summoned the striker to a meeting to try to convince him to continue. It is part of his idea of the future with Italy.
"I'm sorry for the Rome Derby and for the World Cup, but I have the same responsibilities as the others. The responsibilities belong to everyone, you don't have to point the finger at anyone," Immobile declared after his Hat-Trick vs. Genoa last Weekend. He has 24 goals in 27 Serie A games but with the 'Nazionale' something is wrong.
Immobile is aware of this but does not accept that all the criticism is for him. A few weeks ago, Sarri, his coach at Lazio, agreed: "He is the scapegoat." And from Italy they have it clear: "Immobile has no more desire to select", signs La Repubblica.
