Borussia Dortmund looking to strengthen their attacking line ahead of the new season have signed Guinean centre-forward
Serhou Guirassy. The footballer who until recently belonged to Stuttgart and in the season that ended had occupied the second place in the table of scorers of the Bundesliga with 28 goals (in 28 games) signed a
4-year contract on Thursday (18/7). He is the second Stuttgart player to join Borussia Dortmund this month after defender
Valdemar Anton.
The 28-year-old Guirassy had an impressive season last year and finished second behind England's Harry Kane among the scorers with 8 goals less than the Bayern Munich forward.
"Every child who cares about football in the world knows this club, knows the black and yellow shirts, knows the yellow wall. I'm very excited about all of this," Guirassy said, adding: "I came here to win titles, that's what drives me."
Dortmund chief executive Lars Rieken said Guirassy's skills go beyond scoring: "As a striker, of course he will be judged by his goals, the role he plays in...chasing opponents clearly shows that he defines himself as a true team player," he said.
Borussia Dortmund, who reached the UEFA Champions League final last season (losing 2-0 to Real Madrid), begin their German league campaign against Eintracht Frankfurt on August 24. And Guirassy is expected to help them with all the forces.
