Lionel Messi, swept the 2022 FIFA World Player of the Year awards. It was only natural as Argentina's triumph at the recent 22nd World Cup in Qatar overshadowed everything. So it was only natural that the superstar of the team was named the best footballer of the year 2022, which was spent around the world.


Lionel Messi received his award from FIFA president Gianni Infantino at a beautiful ceremony in Paris, capping off an unforgettable year in which he achieved his greatest feat: leading his country's national team to the World Cup.


"Thank you to my teammates. Scaloni and Martinez who are here tonight. This award is a recognition for everyone. It's been a strange year for me. My life's dream came true. It is a dream for every footballer and few can achieve it. I thank the family and the people of Argentina. The World Cup will remain forever in the memories of our lives", said Lionel Messi after receiving his award.
