Violent fans involved in illegal organisations, even those in food debt, are on a list of 6,000 Argentines who will not be allowed to enter World Cup stadiums in Qatar, Buenos Aires city authorities have announced.
"We want to restore peace to soccer by keeping violent fans out of the stadiums," said Buenos Aires City Justice and Security Minister Marcelo D'Alessandro in an interview with a local radio station.
"They were included because they belong to violent fan organizations, have been involved in violent acts and for alimony payments owed (by divorced parents)," he added.
In fact, in order to better carry out checks in Qatar, the official said that "as always in World Cups, delegations from different police agencies of the country will be sent to cooperate with the Qatari security authorities".
In June, the Ministry of National Security signed a cooperation agreement with the Qatari embassy to prevent Argentine hooligans from attending the World Cup.
Among the 6,000 Argentines barred from stadiums, D'Alessandro said around 3,000 are the famous "barrabravas", who are not allowed to attend matches in the Argentine league.
